DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

DC Vote is seeking a Development Manager (DM). Under the direction of the Executive Director and with the support of an administrative assistant, the DM manages our letter-writing appeals, foundation grant proposals, and reports. The DM also works with the DC Vote staff and Board of Directors on our annual fundraising event. See below for a list of job responsibilities.

The ideal candidate is someone who is an excellent writer, very organized, personable, independent, and highly adaptive. Candidate must also be interested in furthering DC democracy. This is a perfect position for a highly-effective development professional who has at least three years of fundraising experience and is ready for more responsibility in a very dynamic organization. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


Foundation Relations:

*Serve as liaison to supporting and targeted foundations
*Draft grant proposals and reports and compile supporting material
*Track deadlines and manage submission of proposals and reports
*Research new foundations

Major Donor Cultivation and Annual 'Champions of Democracy' Awards Reception

*Help develop and implement strategy for main fundraising event, including individual and corporate donor cultivation and outreach
*Coordinate donor cultivation and outreach by Executive Director, Public Affairs Director and members of the Board of Directors
*Draft solicitation letters
*Supervise execution of all mailings and donor data entry
*Lead logistics for annual event including venue selection, ordering equipment and/or supplies, catering, sound/staging, awards, etc.
*Coordinate solicitations by Executive Director, Board members, and Public Affairs Director
*Serve as liaison to Honorees
*Oversee creation of registration lists at event
*Manage fellow staff members on delegated tasks prior to, during and post event
*Produce post-event acknowledgment letters

Individual Solicitations and Membership Program

*Manage development and execution of four mail solicitations to existing donors, two newsletter mailings, and periodic email solicitations
*Manage data entry and acknowledgment letters
*Conduct solicitation analysis
*Find ways to use active social media programs for fundraising

Support Advocacy Work

All members of DC Vote staff have the opportunity to be an active part of our advocacy efforts, including leading meetings with congressional offices and participating in protests
